Alright, guys, so I’ve been messing around with “MLB The Show 24” lately, and let me tell you, figuring out how to switch up your player’s position? It’s been a bit of a journey. I wanted to share my experience here, hoping it might save some of you the headache I went through.
So, first off, I jumped into the Road to the Show mode. I had this pitcher, right? But I got this crazy idea to turn him into a position player. I was so stuck, every time my manager asked me about changing my position or being traded, I couldn’t say no for changing position.

I spent hours digging through forums and watching videos. Finally, I stumbled upon this method that actually worked. It’s a bit of a workaround, but hey, it gets the job done.
Here’s what I did:
- Started fresh: I created a brand new CAP (Create-A-Player), but this time, at the position I wanted my main guy to end up in.
- Got to Double-A: Played through with this new CAP until I hit the Double-A league. The important thing here is to get to that locker room screen.
- Saved it: Once I was in the locker room, I saved the game. Just a regular save, nothing fancy.
- Back to the main menu: Exited all the way back to the main screen of the game.
- Loaded up my original CAP: This is where the magic happens. I loaded up the file of the player I actually wanted to change.
Boom! Suddenly, my pitcher was now at the position I chose for that temporary CAP. It was like the game got confused in a good way, I guess. Oh, also I tried to make him a position player, I had to start a new game, and play him appear in 20 games as a position player (likely DH) with at least 3 plate appearances in each of those 20 games.
I also learned that you could try talking to your agent or requesting a position change in your player profile, but honestly, this workaround was the only thing that worked consistently for me. I even tried having those chats with my manager during training sessions, but no dice.
One more thing, make sure to switch your skill set to match the new position after you make the change. It’s easy to forget, but it makes a big difference in your player’s performance.
So yeah, that’s my story. It wasn’t straightforward, but I got there in the end. Hopefully, this little guide helps some of you out there who might be struggling with the same issue. Happy gaming, folks!
