Alright, so today I’m diving into the world of Pokemon Go, specifically chasing down this critter called Vivillon, the “High Plains” kind. Now, I ain’t no Pokemon master, but I do enjoy the hunt, especially when it involves a bit of strategy and a lot of walking.
Getting Started
First things first, I had to figure out what this Vivillon business was all about. Turns out, this butterfly Pokemon is a bit of a collector’s item because it comes in different patterns depending on where you catch it. The High Plains one, that’s what I was after. From what I gathered, this pattern likes the dry, arid places. Makes sense, right? High Plains, dry terrain. My kind of logic.

The Plan
So, the plan was simple: find friends from those dry, arid regions and start swapping gifts. In Pokemon Go, you can send gifts to your friends, and these gifts contain postcards. Pinning these postcards is the key to attracting Vivillon. I started hitting up online forums and communities, looking for folks playing in places like the deserts of the American Southwest or similar regions.
The Grind
It wasn’t easy, I’ll tell you that. Finding the right friends took some time. I sent out a bunch of friend requests, explaining what I was looking for. Some people ignored me, some thought I was crazy, but eventually, I started getting responses. Slowly but surely, I built up a network of trainers from these High Plains regions.
Then came the daily grind of sending and receiving gifts. I made sure to send gifts every day, and I was stoked every time I received one in return. Each postcard got pinned immediately. I was practically glued to my phone, waiting for that Vivillon to show up.
The Payoff
After a good chunk of time, it finally happened. I opened the app one day, and there it was, a Vivillon with the High Plains pattern. It felt good, I gotta say. All that effort, all that walking and gift-swapping, it all paid off.
What I learned about collecting Vivillon is as follows.
- It requires patience.
- It requires presistence.
- It requires luck.
It’s not just about catching ’em all, it’s about the journey, the connections you make, and the little victories along the way. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got other Vivillon patterns to chase.
