Okay, so I decided to dive into the latest roster update for MLB The Show 24 today, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a ride. First off, I booted up the game and headed straight to the main menu. From there, I clicked on “Settings,” and then “File Management.” Pretty straightforward so far, right?
Next, I selected “Load Data” and was presented with a bunch of files. I picked the one that seemed to be the most recent roster update. I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit nervous about messing something up, but I went for it anyway.

After the update loaded, I jumped into a game to see what had changed. It took me a while to notice anything different, to be honest. Then I started to see some players had been moved around.
- Aroldis Chapman, the flamethrower, is now the closer for the Pirates. That’s a big change!
- David Bednar, who used to be the Pirates’ closer, is now just a regular relief pitcher.
- And over on the Rays, Edwin Uceta is their new closer, while Colin Poche got bumped down to a relief role.
I also heard from somewhere on the internet that some players’ “attributes” were tweaked. I guess that’s like their in-game skills or something. But I couldn’t really tell what had changed just by playing. Maybe they run faster now? Or hit the ball harder? Who knows.
And then there was this weird thing I saw online about some players getting a “glitch face” after the update. Apparently, it’s mostly the newly drafted guys. I didn’t notice anything like that in my game, thankfully. I’m not sure if it’s because I didn’t encounter these players or if it was already fixed.
Honestly, updating the rosters wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be. Maybe I’m just not hardcore enough to appreciate the subtle changes. Or maybe I need to play more to really see the differences. Either way, it was an interesting experience, and now I’m ready to get back to hitting dingers and striking out batters with the updated rosters!
In the end, this update seemed more about the pro players who follow the real MLB scene religiously. For a casual player like me, it’s more of a “huh, neat” moment than a game-changer. But hey, at least I learned how to update rosters now, right?
