Alright, so today I’m gonna talk about taking down Honchkrow in Pokémon Go. This bird can be a real pain, so I had to figure out its weaknesses.
First off, I started by looking at what types of attacks work best against Honchkrow. Turns out, it’s weak to Electric, Fairy, Ice, and Rock moves. That gave me a good starting point. Then, I dug into which Pokémon have those types of moves and are also strong overall.

Finding the Right Counters
After some trial and error, I found that some Pokémon really shine when battling Honchkrow. Here’s what I came up with:
- Mega Diancie: This one’s a beast. It’s got Rock moves that hit Honchkrow hard.
- Shadow Rampardos: Another heavy hitter with Rock moves. I used Smack Down and Rock Slide, and it worked like a charm.
- Mega Gardevoir: This one brings the Fairy-type moves, which are super effective.
- Shadow Raikou and Shadow Electivire: These two are Electric powerhouses. They can zap Honchkrow pretty quickly.
- Shadow Rhyperior: Another Rock-type that can take some hits and dish out damage.
My Battle Strategy
So, I went into battle with these Pokémon, and it wasn’t a walk in the park. I tried out different movesets. For Honchkrow’s attacks, I noticed it has things like Dark Pulse, Psychic, Brave Bird, and Sky Attack. Peck and Sky Attack were a good combo for Flying-type damage, but you know, Brave Bird works too.
I kept at it, battling Honchkrow over and over. I mean, I’m not a pro or anything, but I just keep trying out stuff. Using Shadow Rampardos with Smack Down and Rock Slide was pretty effective. Took about 57 seconds to win, not bad, right? Each time I learned a little more about how to use my Pokémon’s strengths.
My Final Thoughts
In the end, I found that Honchkrow isn’t so tough if you have the right team. It’s got a max CP of 2566, which sounds scary, but with its defense being kinda low (103), strong attackers can take it down. Just gotta watch out for its high attack (243). I learned that Honchkrow is not good for PvP though, so don’t waste your time trying it out there.
So yeah, that’s my experience taking on Honchkrow in Pokémon Go. Hope this helps some of you out there!
