Alright, so, I’ve been getting into this game called Dark and Darker lately. It’s pretty cool, right? Anyway, I saw there was this “Founder’s Edition” and, like a lot of you, I was curious about how to get my hands on it. So I did some digging and wanted to share my adventure.
First, I hit up the usual spots, you know, Steam and the game’s official website. But guess what? No dice. It wasn’t there! I was a bit bummed, I’m not gonna lie. But then I thought, “Hey, there’s got to be another way, right?”

So I started checking out some forums and discussions online. Turns out, a lot of people were in the same boat as me. Some folks were talking about different versions of the game, like the standard one. I even grabbed the standard version at first, just to make sure I could actually play the game, you know?
Founders Edition is a little different
- It’s not always available: Turns out, it’s like a special thing they release sometimes, not all the time.
- It costs more: Yeah, it’s a bit pricier than the standard edition, but you get some extra goodies, so some people think it’s worth it.
- Faster Looting: Apparently, with this edition, you can loot stuff way quicker. There are like three ways to move loot, and the right-click is the fastest. This is a pretty big deal in a game like Dark and Darker, where every second counts.
Anyway, I kept digging. I saw some people talking about accidentally buying the normal version instead of the Founder’s Edition. Ouch, that’s gotta hurt. They were asking if there was a way to upgrade, like maybe buy the extra stuff separately. I didn’t find a clear answer on that, but it seems like once you buy one, you’re kinda stuck with it. You might need to buy another copy. Maybe one day they’ll let us upgrade, who knows?
So, after all this, what did I learn? Well, getting the Founder’s Edition of Dark and Darker isn’t as simple as just going to the store and buying it. It takes a bit of luck and timing. I’m still keeping my eye out for when it becomes available again. When I finally snag it, I’ll definitely let you all know! It seems like a bit of a waiting game, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
Oh, and one more thing. I found out that you have 6 classes from the start, and you get one regardless of which edition you have. That made me feel better about just having the standard edition for now.
Keep your eyes peeled, and happy dungeon crawling! Maybe we’ll run into each other in the game someday, standard or Founder’s, who cares? As long as we’re having a good time, right?
