Okay, so today I decided to dive into the mid lane of League of Legends and figure out which champions are really crushing it right now. I’ve always been a mid lane main, but lately, I’ve been feeling a bit lost on who to pick.
First, I played a bunch of games with different champions to get a feel for how they’re performing. I started with some of the classics like Ahri and Syndra, champions I’m pretty comfortable with. It was a bit of a mixed bag. Some games I popped off, others I felt like I was just along for the ride.
Then, I started experimenting with some champions I don’t normally play. I tried out Pantheon and Kassadin, after reading somewhere that they’re pretty versatile. Pantheon felt surprisingly strong. I could duel really well, and his roams are insane. Kassadin, on the other hand, took some getting used to. He’s super weak early, but once he gets going, he’s a monster. But yeah, you really need to put in the time to learn him.
My Opinion On The Best Mid Laners
After that, I spent some time looking at tier lists online, you know, just to see what the general consensus was. Most lists seem to agree that champions like Akshan, Viktor, and Aurelion Sol are top-tier right now. They all have different strengths. Akshan’s got that crazy mobility and reset potential, Viktor’s got insane scaling and wave clear, and Aurelion Sol just dominates teamfights with his massive stars.
- Akshan: Super mobile, great for snowballing.
- Viktor: Scales like a beast, controls the wave easily.
- Aurelion Sol: Amazing teamfight presence, huge AoE.
I also noticed that some champions are considered strong counters to others. For example, I saw that Aurora is apparently good against Smolder and Jayce. Then I saw that she is being countered by Veigar most. That makes sense, considering how strong the champions are. And speaking of Smolder, people tend to think he’s in a good spot right now, but I haven’t played him much, so I can’t really say. And Voli is also a good pick but only works as a counterpick.
In the end, I realized that there’s no single “best” champion. It really depends on your playstyle and what you’re comfortable with. But based on my experience and what I’ve seen online, I think these are some solid picks for mid lane in the current meta:
- For beginners: Ahri, Annie, Lux – they’re relatively straightforward and have good wave clear.
- For more experienced players: Akshan, Viktor, Aurelion Sol – they have higher skill ceilings but can really take over games.
- For something different: Pantheon, Kassadin – they’re a bit off-meta but can be super effective in the right hands.
