Alright, so I wanted to level up my First Aid skill in Classic WoW. I heard it’s pretty useful since it doesn’t take up one of your main profession slots and gives you a way to heal yourself without using mana. That sounds pretty good. Let’s do it!
I started out, you know, just kinda wandering around, figuring things out. I found the initial trainers easily enough. Each major city has ’em, so that wasn’t a big deal. The trainers taught me the basics, and how to make linen bandages. Pretty straightforward stuff.

Then I got to crafting. I gathered a ton of Linen Cloth. I mean, a TON. Killed a bunch of humanoids and looted them. My bags were overflowing with cloth. Then I just started crafting those bandages like crazy. My skill level went up pretty quickly, at least initially.
- Making Linen Bandages: This got me through the first part of the skill levels, and it was pretty simple since Linen Cloth is easy to come by.
Once I got to a certain point, around skill level 80, I needed to learn the next level, Heavy Linen Bandage. So, I went back to the trainers, and they taught me that. Easy peasy.
- Learning Heavy Linen Bandage: Back to the trainer, got the training, no biggie.
Then it was back to crafting. More Linen Cloth, more bandages. It was a grind, but I just kept at it. Eventually, I hit the point where I needed to learn about Wool Bandages. This time I needed to find a book, “Expert First Aid – Under Wraps.” I’ve heard that it’s sold by a specific vendor in different locations depending on my faction. That took some time and a bit of running around to different areas, but I finally found it.
- Finding the “Expert First Aid – Under Wraps” book: This was a bit of a pain, had to travel to find the right vendor.
- Making Wool Bandages: Same as before, just a different material. Grind, grind, grind.
After getting my skill up to around 150, I learned Heavy Wool Bandage from the book. Same process, just heavier bandages. Then it was on to Silk Bandages. This required Silk Cloth, which, you guessed it, dropped from more humanoids. More killing, more looting, more crafting.
- Learning Heavy Wool Bandage: Learned it from the book I found earlier.
- Making Silk Bandages: More humanoid farming, more bandages. The usual.
Once I hit 210, I needed another book, “Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage.” Again, had to track down a specific vendor in a specific zone. I did some searching, got the book, and learned the next level of bandages.
- Getting the “Manual: Heavy Silk Bandage” book: Another book, another vendor hunt.
Then it was on to Mageweave Bandages. More of the same, just with Mageweave Cloth. By this point, I was a bandage-making machine. Grind, grind, grind, up to skill level 225.
- Making Mageweave Bandages: You know the drill by now.
Now, to get from 225 to 300, I needed to complete a quest called “Triage”. This quest is given by a specific NPC in one of the zones. I got the quest and had to successfully bandage up a bunch of injured NPCs within a time limit. It took a few tries, but I managed to get it done.
- Completing the “Triage” quest: This was actually kinda fun, a nice change of pace.
After completing the quest, I could learn the highest level of First Aid! I could now make Heavy Mageweave Bandages and Runecloth Bandages. Then I just crafted my way to 300. It took a while, a lot of gathering, and a lot of crafting, but I finally maxed out my First Aid!
- Making Heavy Mageweave and Runecloth Bandages: The final stretch, and I was done!
So yeah, that’s how I did it. It was a long process, a real grind in some parts, but totally worth it. Now I can patch myself up without needing a healer or using up my mana. Pretty handy!
