Alright, so I’ve been hooked on Pokemon Go again lately, specifically trying to collect all those Vivillon patterns. It’s been a wild ride, let me tell you.
I started by realizing that the whole Vivillon thing revolves around sending and receiving postcards with friends. Yeah, sounds simple enough, right? But then you discover there are like a million different patterns based on where the postcards are from.

First, I had to figure out what I was even doing. Turns out, you gotta catch these little Scatterbug fellas. I did some searching on the Internet. Every time you pin a postcard from a friend, you make progress towards encountering a Scatterbug from that region. The Scatterbug are the base, and they need 25 candies to evolve into Spewpa, then a whopping 100 more to finally become Vivillon.
I spent days sending out gifts like crazy, hoping for those precious postcards in return. I quickly learned that not all friends are created equal when it comes to Vivillon hunting. Some folks just don’t send gifts back, man! It’s frustrating.
- Send Gifts Daily: I made it a habit to send out gifts to as many friends as possible every single day.
- Pin Postcards: Every time I got a postcard, I pinned it before opening the gift. This was key to tracking my progress for each region.
- Track Your Progress: In the game, I checked my Vivillon map in the Pokedex regularly to see which regions I still needed.
The real breakthrough came when I started actively seeking out friends from specific regions. I found some online communities dedicated to Pokemon Go friends and Vivillon, and those were super helpful. People were sharing their friend codes, specifying which region they were from. I added a ton of people from places like “Sun,” “Ocean,” and “Jungle” – those were the ones I was missing.
After weeks of grinding, I finally started seeing some results. I evolved my first few Vivillon, and it was such a satisfying feeling. Each new pattern felt like a little victory. I even managed to snag a few of the rarer ones, like that elusive Sun pattern. I still remember staring at my screen in disbelief when I got it.
Keeping Track
I started keeping a little checklist of all the patterns I had and the ones I still needed. It was nothing fancy, just a note on my phone, but it really helped me stay organized.
This whole Vivillon collecting thing has turned into a bit of an obsession, I’ll admit. But it’s been a fun way to reconnect with the game and meet some cool people from all over the world. I’m still missing a few patterns, so the hunt continues! If you’re also on this Vivillon quest, hit me up, maybe we can help each other out!
Oh man, I’m so excited! I finally finished it!
