Okay, so I wanted to figure out how to substitute players in Madden 24. I’ve been playing for a while, but this was tripping me up, you know?
First, I paused the game. I mean, you gotta pause it, right? Otherwise, you can’t really do anything with the menus.
- Once I paused the game, I navigated over to the ‘Coaching’ tab. It’s right there in the pause menu, pretty easy to find.
- Then, I selected ‘Depth Chart’. That’s where all the player stuff is.
At first, I was kinda lost. I was looking for something like previous Madden games where you could just sub players in and out right from the playbook screen. But it wasn’t there. So, I started messing around.
I realized you could sub by formation, so I went to the formation screen and hit R1 or RT. It depends on your controller, I guess. Then you just pick the player you want to sub out. But remember, you gotta choose the same formation you were in when you hit R1 or RT. It’s a little weird, but once you get it, it’s not too bad.
I also found that if you’re calling plays by formation, you can do it from the play call screen. You just browse to the formation you want and then you can select the player to sub out before picking the play.
Another way
I found another way to do it, too. When you’re in the ‘Depth Chart’ screen, you can just press left or right until you find the player you want to take out. Then you select them, and it’ll show you a list of players you can put in as their sub. It’ll even tell you which buttons to press at the bottom of the screen. It is super helpful.
It took me a bit of experimenting, but I finally figured it out. It’s not as straightforward as it used to be, but once you get the hang of it, it’s manageable. Now I can swap my players in and out no problem, depending on the situation in the game. I have gotten used to this new method!
