Okay, so I wanted to mess around with the Program Stars in MLB The Show 23. I’d heard about it, seen some stuff online, but hadn’t really dug in. So, I decided to give it a shot and, well, here’s how it went.
Figuring Out Where to Start
First things first, I had to actually find the darn thing. I booted up the game, went into Diamond Dynasty – that’s where all the online and card-collecting stuff is. I poked around the menus a bit, and finally, I spotted it: “Programs.” It wasn’t super obvious, to be honest.

Diving into the Programs
Once I clicked on “Programs,” I saw a bunch of different options. There were daily moments, featured programs, and some other stuff I didn’t really get at first. I just picked one that looked interesting – I think it was a featured program related to some player.
Grinding Through the Missions
This is where the real work started. Each program has a bunch of missions you gotta complete to earn “Program Stars.” These missions, man, they were all over the place. Some were like, “Get X number of hits with this player” or “Strike out Y number of batters.” Others were tied to specific game modes, like playing Conquest or Ranked Seasons.
So, I started knocking them out. I spent a good chunk of time just playing games, trying to focus on the specific missions. Sometimes it was easy, sometimes it was a total pain. I remember one mission where I had to steal bases with some slow-as-molasses player. Took forever!
The “PXP” Thing
Oh, and there was this “PXP” thing I had to figure out. Basically, it’s like experience points for your players. The more you use a specific player, the more PXP they earn, and some missions require you to earn a certain amount of PXP with certain players. I learned that just playing with those players in any mode would rack up the PXP, so I started throwing them into my lineup whenever I could.
The Rewards!
Finally, after all that grinding, I started racking up those Program Stars. And that’s where the good stuff comes in. As you earn stars, you unlock rewards. We’re talking packs of cards, stubs (the in-game currency), equipment, and even specific player cards. I managed to snag a pretty sweet diamond player card after completing one of the programs. Totally worth it!
My Overall Takeaway
It’s a grind, no doubt. But the Program Stars system in MLB The Show 23 is a pretty cool way to earn rewards and get better players for your team. It just takes time, patience, and a little bit of figuring out how it all works. But once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty rewarding.
Would suggest any beginner player do that.
