Okay, so today I decided to dive into the PBE patch notes for TFT Set 12. I’ve been hyped for this new set, and I wanted to get a good grasp of what’s changing before it hits live servers. I’m no pro player, but I love tinkering and figuring things out myself.
First thing I did was fire up the PBE client. It takes a bit to download all the updates, so I grabbed a cup of coffee while that was happening. Gotta stay caffeinated for optimal theory-crafting, you know?

Once it was ready, I jumped straight into a game. I mean, the best way to understand the changes is to experience them firsthand, right? My initial plan was to just wing it and see what felt strong. No strict comps in mind, just playing flexible and seeing what the game threw at me.
I quickly noticed some of the new units and traits. Some of them seemed pretty intuitive, others, not so much. I spent a good chunk of that first game just reading tooltips, trying to figure out how everything worked. I probably lost a bunch of rounds I shouldn’t have, but hey, that’s the learning process!
My Initial Thoughts
- Some of the new traits are really cool. I won’t spoil anything here, but let’s just say there are some interesting combinations that I’m excited to try out.
- The economy changes felt significant. I need to play more games to get a better feel for it, but it definitely felt different from the previous set.
- A few units stood out as potentially overpowered, but it’s still early days. I’m sure things will get balanced before the set goes live.
After that first messy game, I decided to actually read the patch notes. I found them on some random website I’m a daily visitor. It was a wall of text, but I skimmed through it, focusing on the sections that talked about the biggest changes.
Armed with this new knowledge, I jumped into another game. This time, I had a slightly better idea of what I wanted to do. I tried to force a specific comp based on one of the new traits, and it worked… okay-ish. I still made a ton of mistakes, but I felt like I was starting to understand the new meta a little better.
I played a few more games after that, experimenting with different comps and strategies. Some worked, some failed miserably. It’s all part of the fun, right? Figuring out what’s strong and what’s not is like solving a puzzle.
Overall, my first impression of TFT Set 12 is positive. It feels fresh and exciting, and there’s a lot to explore. I’m definitely going to be spending a lot more time on the PBE in the coming days, trying to master the new set. I’m no expert, just a dude sharing my TFT journey, one messy game at a time!
