Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Bel’Veth in the mid lane, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I saw some chatter online about it, thought, “Why not?” and dived right in.
The First Few Games… Ouch
Initially, I fed. Like, a lot. I was going up against your typical mid-lane mages – you know, the Syndras, the Viktors, the Zeds – and I just got poked out, zoned, and all-in’d to death. I was constantly behind in CS, felt useless, and my team was, shall we say, not thrilled.

I quickly realized I couldn’t just walk up and smack minions like I do in the jungle. I had to play super safe, give up some CS early, and just try to soak up XP. The hardest part was managing my E. I wanted to use it to trade, but then I’d be vulnerable to ganks or all-ins. It was a balancing act I wasn’t very good at, at first.
The Turning Point
But I’m stubborn, so I kept at it. I started experimenting with runes and builds. I tried the standard Conqueror setup, but I also messed around with Hail of Blades for that quick burst. I found that Hail of Blades gave the best one, two, punch feeling.
I also watched some high-elo VODs of people playing Bel’Veth mid (yes, they exist!). I noticed they were really good at using their Q to dodge skill shots and weave in and out of trades. That’s when it clicked: Bel’Veth mid isn’t about being a lane bully; it’s about being a slippery, opportunistic assassin.
Finding My Groove
I started playing around the enemy’s cooldowns. Did Syndra just use her Q and E? Time to go in for a quick trade. Did Viktor waste his laser? Time to dash in and smack him around. I started using my W more strategically, not just for the knock-up, but also for the slow to help me stick to my target.
I also started paying more attention to the wave. I learned to let the enemy push me in, so I could farm safely under tower and set up ganks for my jungler. And speaking of junglers, communication is KEY. I made sure to let my jungler know when I had kill pressure, or when I needed help.
The Build
Build-wise, I found that rushing Blade of the Ruined King is still pretty good. It gives you sustain, attack speed, and that sweet on-hit damage. Then, I usually go for Kraken Slayer for even more damage. After that, it’s pretty situational. Death’s Dance if I need to survive burst, Wit’s End if they have a lot of magic damage, and so on.
- Start with the standard jungler start.
- Focus on building Blade of the Ruined King.
- Pick up Kraken Slayer.
- Then build based on the other team’s loadout.
The Results?
So, is Bel’Veth mid viable? I’d say… cautiously yes. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart. You need to be patient, you need to be good at dodging skill shots, and you need to know your matchups. But when it works, it really works. There’s nothing quite like seeing the enemy mid laner’s face when you 100-0 them from out of nowhere.
I’m still learning, still experimenting, and still feeding occasionally. But I’m having a blast, and that’s what matters, right? If you are a big fan of Bel’Veth, give it a shot. Let’s see what we can get away with, together.
