Alright, guys, so I’ve been diving deep into the Call of Duty world lately, and one thing that’s always a hot topic is TTK – Time To Kill. Basically, how fast can you drop an enemy? I wanted to get a real handle on how different guns stack up, so I decided to do some testing myself. This is my no-frills, just-the-facts comparison.
Getting Started
First, I picked out a handful of popular guns from different categories – some SMGs, ARs, a couple of LMGs, and even a sniper rifle just for kicks. I wanted a good mix to see how they all compared.

Then, I jumped into a custom game. No bots, no distractions, just me, the guns, and a target.
The Testing
- I set up a target at a medium-range distance. Think typical engagement range, not across the map sniping.
- For each gun, I fired controlled bursts, aiming for center mass.
- I used a stopwatch (yeah, I know, old school) to time how long it took from the first shot to the target “dropping.”
- I repeated this multiple times for each gun to get a feel for consistency. Some guns are more predictable than others.
The Notes
I kept simple notes, jotting down the approximate TTK for each gun.
It is not super scientific, I wasn’t counting frames or anything, but it gave me a good sense of relative speeds.
My Rough Findings
What I basically found was that, yeah, SMGs generally have the fastest TTK up close, as you’d expect.
ARs are more versatile, holding their own at medium range.
LMGs, while packing a punch, can be slower due to recoil and handling.
And snipers, well, they’re a one-shot kill if you hit your mark, but obviously, the “TTK” is all about landing that shot.
Honestly, this little experiment just confirmed what most of us already kinda know. But it was fun to actually see it for myself and get a better feel for the guns I use. It definitely helps me think about my loadouts and how I approach different situations in the game.

Give it a try yourself! It’s a good way to get a feel for the guns and maybe even discover a new favorite.
