Okay, so I’ve been glued to Pokemon GO lately, like a lot of you, I guess. And I got really into this whole Trainer Battles thing. It’s pretty fun, but man, it can be tough! I wanted to figure out the best DPS Pokemon, you know, the ones that can dish out the most damage.
I started by just battling with my strongest Pokemon, but that wasn’t really working. I’d win some, lose some, it was all over the place. I realized I needed a more, like, strategic approach. So, I did what any normal person would do – I turned to the internet. There are tons of guides and stuff, which is cool, but also a bit overwhelming.

I found this one spreadsheet, the “Comprehensive DPS/TDO Spreadsheet”. I just clicked my pokemon and it showed me some good counters for Dialga, one of the legendaries. Each column of the sheet is easy to understand.
Then I went deep into this “Attackers Tier List”. It basically ranks all the best Pokemon for Raids and stuff. It changes sometimes when they add new Pokemon or change the moves, but it’s a good starting point. I was looking for Pokemon with, like, really high attack stats, but also ones that wouldn’t just faint right away. Gotta have some defense, too, right?
After, like, hours of reading and comparing, I started to get a better idea of what I was looking for. And I tried to put together teams for the Great League and the Ultra League. You see, each Pokemon has a Type, like Fire, Water, or Grass. Some Types are strong against others. For example, a Fire-type move will do extra damage to a Grass-type Pokemon. It’s like rock-paper-scissors, but with, you know, magical creatures.
I also learned that even if a Pokemon has a high attack stat, it might not be the best choice if its moves are weak against the Pokemon you’re fighting. You gotta think about the whole package. And to be honest, I made a bunch of mistakes at first. I’d pick Pokemon that looked cool or that I just liked, even if they weren’t the best for the job. But I kept at it, and I started to see some improvement.
Here are some tips if you are a newbie like me.
- First, check the “Comprehensive DPS/TDO Spreadsheet” for getting the best counters.
- Second, try to find a well-rounded team with good attack and defense for the Great League and the Ultra League.
- Last, don’t give up and you will be better!
My Final Thoughts
It’s a lot of trial and error, but that’s part of the fun, I guess. And I’m still learning! It’s not just about having the strongest Pokemon, it’s about building a good team and knowing how to use them. There’s a lot more to it than I thought, but I’m slowly getting the hang of it. It’s a journey, and I’m enjoying the ride, even if I get totally crushed sometimes. Catch you in the game!
