Alright, so I’ve been meaning to clear out some of my old gaming gear, and I had this Steam Deck lying around that I barely used. I was wondering if I could trade it in somewhere, and GameStop came to mind. So I figured, why not give it a shot and see if they take Steam Decks?
First things first, I grabbed my Steam Deck and made sure it was all clean and in good condition. I wiped it down, made sure all the buttons and joysticks were working fine, and packed it back into its original box with all the accessories. You know, just to make a good impression and all that.

Next, I hopped in my car and drove over to my nearest GameStop. I walked in, went up to the counter, and asked the guy working there, “Hey, do you guys take Steam Decks for trade-in?”
The guy looked at me a little confused, then he said he’d never heard anyone asking about this before, so he went to ask his manager. I waited around for a few minutes, browsing through some games, while they were checking it out.
Eventually, the manager came over and told me that, unfortunately, they don’t currently accept Steam Decks for trade-in. He said it’s not something they deal with, and that they don’t have a system in place to handle them. Bummer.
So, there you have it. I tried trading in my Steam Deck at GameStop, but no luck. They just don’t take them. It’s a little disappointing, but hey, at least I tried, right? I guess I’ll have to find another way to get rid of this thing. Maybe I’ll try selling it online or something. If any of you guys have any suggestions, let me know!
