Okay, so, I’ve been hooked on Animal Crossing for a while now, right? It’s just so chill, you know? Building your own little world, making friends with adorable animals, fishing, catching bugs… But lately, I’ve been itching for something new, but still kinda the same. So I started digging around to find games that give off that same cozy vibe.
First thing I did was hit up the internet. I typed in something like, “games like Animal Crossing on Switch” into the search bar. Boom! Tons of stuff popped up. Lots of articles, forum threads, the whole shebang.

I started skimming through a bunch of these, and a few names kept coming up. Stardew Valley was a big one. Apparently, it’s a farming sim, but you also get to build relationships with the townsfolk and explore caves and stuff. Sounds cool, right?
- So I went ahead and looked at some gameplay videos.
- I watched this guy planting crops, watering them, then going into town and chatting with people.
- It definitely had that same kind of relaxing feel as Animal Crossing, just with more farming.
Then there was another one called My Time at Portia. This one’s more about crafting and building, but it also has that social element where you make friends with the villagers.
- I saw some clips of people running around, gathering resources, and building all sorts of things, like bridges and machines.
- It seemed a bit more complex than Animal Crossing, but still pretty chill.
I also stumbled upon this game called Ooblets. This one’s a bit more quirky, I guess. You collect these little creatures called Ooblets, and you have dance battles with them. Sounds weird, but it looks super cute and fun.
And then there are some games that are a little different but still might scratch that same itch. Like, Spiritfarer is about ferrying spirits to the afterlife, which sounds kinda sad, but it’s supposed to be really beautiful and heartwarming. And Cozy Grove is about camping on a haunted island and helping the ghostly inhabitants.
The result?
I decided to grab Stardew Valley first. After playing for a few days, I think I am addicted. It’s simple, relaxing, and fun. It’s exactly what I wanted. And also I bookmarked the others. I will try them one by one when I am free. I guess I will be very busy recently, haha.
Anyway, that’s my little adventure into finding games like Animal Crossing. If you’re looking for something similar, I hope this helps! It is really not easy to find some games you like.
