Okay, here’s my experience with Nidoking in Pokemon Go:
So, I’ve been playing Pokemon Go for a while now, like everyone else, trying to catch ’em all, you know? And I’ve always had a soft spot for Nidoking. He just looks so cool, right? A big, purple, spiky dude. I finally caught a good Nidoran (Male, of course) and evolved him all the way up. Got myself a Nidoking!

I was pumped. I was thinking, “This guy is gonna be a beast in battles!” I mean, he’s fully evolved pretty early in the game, so I figured his stats would be killer. I did some reading online, and most folks were saying he has a crazy good movepool, meaning he can learn a lot of different attacks. That’s awesome because you can customize him to fight different types of Pokemon.
I spent some time powering him up. That CP, which is like, the power level of your Pokemon, kept going up and up. Every time you find a Pokemon in the wild, they are at a random level, which means their CP is all over the place. You need stardust and candies to power them up.
My Nidoking’s Moves
- Poison Jab (Fast Attack)
- Ice Beam (Charged Attack)
- Thunderbolt (Charged Attack)
I went with Poison Jab for the fast attack, seems pretty standard. For the charged attacks, I saw someone online say Ice Beam and Thunderbolt are a good combo because they can hit a lot of different types, especially those pesky Dragon types. I figured I’d give that a shot. The user intensifies the sun for five turns.
Now, here’s the thing. I started using him in battles, mostly against other players, because that’s where you really test your Pokemon’s strength, right? And, well, he wasn’t quite as amazing as I’d hoped. Don’t get me wrong, he can hold his own. He’s not terrible. But he’s also not, like, destroying everyone. I was winning some, losing some.
I saw some people talking about Shadow Pokemon, which are like, corrupted versions of Pokemon that are supposed to be stronger. They said maybe a Shadow Nidoking would be better, but even then, it’s not a huge difference. A unique attack that varies in type depending on the Pokmon using it.
So, yeah, that’s my experience with Nidoking. I still like him, I still use him sometimes. But is he the best Pokemon in the game? Nah, probably not. He’s just okay. If you really like him, go for it! But if you’re looking for a super powerful Pokemon to dominate in battles, there might be better options out there.
With Pokmon GO, you’ll discover Pokmon in a whole new world—your own. Do it only on multiplayer battles, but not at all battles.
And that’s it, hope it helps someone out there!
