Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this “Las Meninas” painting in Animal Crossing, and let me tell you, it’s been a bit of a wild ride. I’ve always been a fan of art, and when I saw that you could get famous paintings in the game, I was all over it.
First off, I started looking into this painting. I learned it’s a real piece by some guy named Diego Velázquez. And guess what? It’s called “Las Meninas,” which is Spanish for “The Maids of Honor.” This got me all curious, so I spent some time reading up on the actual painting. Pretty cool stuff.

Then, I found out that in Animal Crossing, there are fakes of these paintings floating around. Like, seriously? So now I had to become some kind of art detective. I started to get this painting into my house.
- Step one: I hit up Redd, that sneaky fox who sells art. Sometimes he’s on his boat, sometimes he’s wandering around. You just got to keep an eye out.
- Step two: I checked out what he had. He usually has a few paintings and some statues, all mixed up with the fakes. This is where it gets tricky.
- Step three: I became a fake art expert. I got to know what to look out for. It’s all in the details, you know? Like, comparing it to the real deal painting online. For example, “Las Meninas” in the game has no difference from the original painting.
- Step four: If I was sure it was the real “Las Meninas,” I bought it. If not, I moved on to the next one.
After a few tries, I finally got my hands on a genuine “Las Meninas” in the game! It felt like a real accomplishment, haha. I hung it up in my house, and it looks pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. And most importantly, my “Las Meninas” doesn’t have any differences from the original painting, and it’s very easy to get it.
What I Learned
This whole experience taught me a few things. One, don’t trust everything Redd says, that fox is sly. Two, it pays to do your research, even in a video game. And three, art is pretty darn cool, whether it’s hanging in a museum or in your virtual house.
So, yeah, that’s my “Las Meninas” story. It was a fun little adventure, and now I’ve got a sweet piece of art to show for it. If you’re into art or just want to spice up your Animal Crossing house, I definitely recommend trying to snag some real paintings. Just watch out for those fakes!
