Okay, here is the story about how I figured out the “league border levels” thing:
So, I’ve been grinding away on League lately, trying to climb that ranked ladder, you know? And I noticed some players had these fancy borders around their profile pictures. Some were silver, some gold, some even fancier. I was like, “Man, I want one of those!” My profile was looking pretty plain, just the default stuff. It was time to change.

First, I poked around my profile page, clicking on everything. I found some options for banners and icons, but nothing about those cool borders. I figured it had something to do with my rank, but I needed more details. I was like, “Okay, time to hit the web.”
I started searching using Google, typing in stuff like “league of legends borders” and “how to get borders in league.” I found a bunch of articles and forum posts, but a lot of them were pretty confusing. Some were old, some had information that didn’t make sense. After digging for a while, I stumbled upon the League of Legends Wiki. It’s like a huge encyclopedia of everything about the game, made by the community. It looked pretty legit, and it even said I could sign up and contribute, which was cool.
I found the section on profile borders. Turns out, it’s exactly as I thought! They’re tied to your ranked performance in the previous season. The better you did, the fancier the border you get at the start of the next season. Like, if you hit Silver, you get a silver border. Gold gets you a gold border, and so on. I think the higher-ranked ones even have little animated bits, which is awesome.
- I found out that these borders show up in a bunch of places.
- In your profile, obviously.
- When you’re loading into a game.
- Even in the client when you’re in a party with friends.
It was all starting to make sense now. I went back to my profile and saw a little note that confirmed my current border was based on my last season’s rank. I didn’t do too hot last season, so no fancy border for me yet. But hey, that just means I have a new goal for this season! I want to climb to at least Gold and get that shiny gold border next year. It’s going to be a tough grind, but it’ll be worth it to finally have a profile that looks like I know what I’m doing.
I also noticed there are other ways to get borders, like through special events or by buying them with tokens, but I decided to stick with the ranked route. It felt more rewarding to earn it through my own gameplay. Also, I joined the League Wiki community Discord server. There are lots of people in there sharing tips and stuff, so hopefully, that’ll help me improve. Anyway, I am really happy that I finally found out how to get the borders!
