Okay, so I’ve been messing around with the config files for Lethal Company, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I’m not exactly a tech wizard or anything, but I wanted to squeeze every last drop of performance out of this game, especially since my PC isn’t exactly top-of-the-line.
First thing I did was dive into the game’s settings. I figured, “Hey, if I lower some of these graphics options, maybe I can get a few more frames per second.” So, I started tinkering. I turned down the resolution, set the shadows to low, and disabled some of those fancy effects. It wasn’t the prettiest thing, but it did seem to help a bit. But I wasn’t satisfied. I wanted more.

That’s when I started digging around online. I found a bunch of people talking about config files and mods and all sorts of stuff. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest. But I found this one mod, “HDLethalCompany,” and it sounded promising. It’s supposed to make the game look better, but somehow also improve performance. Sounded like magic to me, so I gave it a shot.
- Installed the mod.
- Restarted my game.
- Checked the config file of the mod and changed “Reflection probe atlas texture resolution” to a higher value.
Then there was another one called “LethalFixes” that claimed to fix some lag issues, so I installed that too. After installing these, I noticed a decent improvement. The game felt a little smoother, but I wanted to push it even further. I started messing with the actual config files themselves.
Now, I’m not gonna lie, this part was a little scary. I was worried I’d break something and have to reinstall the whole game. But I made sure to back up the original files, just in case. I found a few guides online that explained what some of the settings did, and I started experimenting. I tweaked a few values here and there, launched the game, played for a bit, and then went back to tweak some more. It was a lot of trial and error.
And you know what? It actually paid off! After hours of messing around, I managed to get the game running way better than before. It wasn’t perfect, but it was definitely playable. I even managed to bump up a few of the graphics settings again without tanking the performance. I felt like I had really accomplished something, even though it was a bit of a headache to get there. My biggest takeaway is to always stay informed when you are messing around with your game config, but just be sure you know what you’re doing.
