So, I gotta tell you about this annoying thing that happened to me the other day. I was all set for a gaming session, ready to jump into “Dead by Daylight” with my friends. I launched the game, and bam! Hit with this “error code 8001” message. What a buzzkill, right?
First things first, I did what any normal person would do – I checked if the game servers were even up. Sometimes these things go down for maintenance or whatever. I headed over to their Twitter and some website called Downdetector. Nothing. Servers seemed fine. Okay, weird.

Next, I restarted my router. You know, the classic turn-it-off-and-on-again trick. Gave it a good 30 seconds before plugging it back in. Still no luck. Same error message staring me in the face.
Then I thought, maybe it’s something with the game files? So I went into the game settings, looking for a way to “repair” or “reset” it. Found something like that in the Apps settings on my computer, selected “Dead by Daylight,” and tried both options. Still nothing.
At this point, I was getting a little frustrated. I checked my internet connection, and everything else seemed to be working fine. Other games, browsing, all good. So it had to be something specific with “Dead by Daylight.”
I remembered something about clearing the cache, so I dug around the internet to find out how to do that for this game. After that, I tried running it again. I really hope it can work. After all this, the error was still there.
Feeling defeated. I really don’t know what was going on. I posted on some forums and even contacted their support. Some people said they had similar issues, but no one had a solid fix. Some guy said to check server status first, but I had already done that.
Ultimately, I have not solved the problem, which is incredibly frustrating. I just wanted to share my experience. Maybe one day I will fix it. If you have any ideas, feel free to share them with me.
