Okay, so I wanted to try spawning NPCs in Starfield, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a ride. I’ve messed around with console commands in other games before, so I figured, “How hard could it be?” Turns out, it’s not that straightforward, but once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty cool what you can do.
First, I had to bring up the console. You do that by pressing the tilde key (~), you know, the one that looks like a little wave. Once I did that, a little window popped up at the bottom of the screen where I could type in my commands.

Now, here’s where it got interesting. I learned that the command to spawn an NPC is . But you can’t just type that in and expect magic to happen. You need the NPC’s ID, which is like a unique code that tells the game who you’re talking about. And that is not all, You also need to tell the game how many of this NPC to spawn.
I did some digging around the internet, trying to find these IDs. It wasn’t easy, I’ll be honest. Unlike some other games where you can find nice, organized lists, Starfield’s IDs seemed to be scattered all over the place. But I found some, and I was eager to try it out.
- I found the ID for a UC Grunt, for example. The ID was something like 00005555 – I might be misremembering, but it was a string of numbers like that. And I wanted to spawn 3 of them.
- So, I typed in * 00005555 3 and hit enter.
And boom! Three UC Grunts appeared right in front of me. It was awesome! They just stood there, looking around like they were trying to figure out where they were. I even tried spawning other characters, like some of the main story NPCs. I managed to get Vladimir to appear outside the Lodge, just like I read someone else wanted to do. It was a bit tricky because I had to grab his reference ID before Walter got to me. I felt like a real hacker, ha!
I also experimented with spawning different numbers of NPCs. I tried spawning just one, then five, then ten. It’s pretty funny to see a whole crowd of the same person just standing there. I won’t lie, I spent a good chunk of time just messing around with this, spawning different characters in different places. The game didn’t even flinch, handling it like a champ. It’s like having your own personal army, or a very confused clone convention.
The only real challenge was finding those darn NPC IDs. But once you have them, the sky’s the limit. You can spawn anyone, anywhere. It’s a great way to mix things up in the game, create some funny scenarios, or even help yourself out if you’re in a tough spot. Just be careful not to spawn too many, or things might get a little… crowded. And who knows what that might do to your game’s performance!
Be Creative!
So yeah, that’s my story of spawning NPCs in Starfield. It’s a fun little trick that can add a whole new layer of entertainment to the game. If you’re into that kind of thing, I definitely recommend giving it a try. Just be prepared to do a little digging for those IDs. Have fun with it, and who knows what kind of crazy situations you can create!
