Okay, so I’ve been playing a ton of Pokémon GO lately, and I’ve really gotten into using Gallade. This dude’s a Psychic/Fighting-type, which is pretty cool, and I wanted to make sure I was using him right. So, I did a deep dive into figuring out the best Gallade moveset in Pokémon GO. Let me tell you, it was a journey.
Finding the Right Moves
First off, I started looking at Gallade’s possible moves. You’ve got your Fast Moves and your Charged Moves. For Fast Moves, I saw that Confusion and Low Kick were options. Seemed like Confusion was the way to go since it’s a Psychic-type move and Gallade gets that Same Type Attack Bonus (STAB) with it. Makes the move a bit stronger, you know?

Then, for Charged Moves, things got interesting. There’s Close Combat, Psychic, and Leaf Blade. Now, Close Combat seemed like a no-brainer because it’s a Fighting-type move, and again, STAB. But then I thought, maybe having a Psychic-type Charged Move would be good too, for that double Psychic power. But Leaf Blade, being a Grass-type move, threw a wrench in my plans. It wasn’t a bad choice. In the end, I went with Close Combat for that raw Fighting-type damage, and Psychic as a second Charged Move, just to have that Psychic-type coverage.
Putting it to the Test
So, with my moveset picked out – Confusion for the Fast Move, Close Combat and Psychic for the Charged Moves – I started battling. I took on some Gyms, did a few Raids, even tried my luck in the GO Battle League. And let me say, this setup worked like a charm. Gallade was hitting hard, especially with that Confusion and Close Combat combo.
I did experiment a bit, though. I swapped out Psychic for Leaf Blade sometimes, just to see how it felt. It wasn’t terrible, but I found myself missing that Psychic-type damage, especially against certain matchups. So, I mostly stuck with Close Combat and Psychic.
Swords Dance Consideration
Now, while looking into things, I saw some people talking about using a move called Swords Dance. It’s not a move in Pokémon GO, but it is in the main series games. It’s a move that boosts Gallade’s Attack stat, making it hit even harder. I thought, “Man, if only we had that in GO!” But then I realized that’s probably why Gallade is so good in GO – it doesn’t need Swords Dance to be a powerhouse. Its natural Attack stat, combined with the right moves, makes it a real threat.
Fine-Tuning and Experimenting
Even after settling on this moveset, I kept tinkering. I tried out different orders of using the Charged Moves, seeing if using Psychic first and then Close Combat worked better than the other way around. I even used some TMs to switch up the moves now and then, just to try different combos. It was all about finding that sweet spot, that perfect combination that felt just right.
- Confusion: Always seemed like the best Fast Move.
- Close Combat: That Fighting-type STAB is just too good.
- Psychic: Great for coverage and double Psychic power.
- Leaf Blade: It is good for coverage, but I don’t like it.
In the end, my journey to find the best Gallade moveset in Pokémon GO was a blast. I learned a lot, experimented a ton, and came out with a Gallade that’s ready to take on anything. If you’re using Gallade in GO, give this setup a try – Confusion, Close Combat, and Psychic. You might just find it’s your new favorite combo too!
