Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with TFT lately, and let me tell you, Illaoi has become one of my favorites. I mean, she’s a total beast, right? Today, I wanna share how I usually build her, like, what I do to make her super strong in my games.
Getting Started
First off, I always try to get Illaoi as early as possible. She’s not always easy to find, but when I do, I start thinking about the items. Honestly, the early game for me is all about survival and getting some gold flowing. I don’t really commit to a full build at this point, just grabbing what I can.

Building the Core
As the game moves on, I start focusing on items that make Illaoi tanky. That’s her main gig, being a front-line meat shield. I’ve found that items that give her health and resistances are the way to go.
- Warmog’s Armor is a classic choice. It just gives her a ton of health, which is great for soaking up damage.
- I also like Bramble Vest. It’s perfect for dealing with those pesky physical damage dealers.
- And then there’s Dragon’s Claw, which is amazing against magic damage.
With these items, she starts to become really hard to kill. She just stands there, taking all the hits, while my other champs do their thing.
Adding Some Spice
Once I have the tanky stuff sorted, I sometimes look for items that give Illaoi a bit of extra oomph. I mean, she’s not just there to take damage, she can dish it out too.
- Titan’s Resolve is pretty cool. The more she gets hit, the stronger she becomes.
- Sometimes I try for a Bloodthirster to provide a little bit of health drain.
But honestly, these are more like “nice-to-haves.” The tanky items are the real priority.
Putting It All Together
So, in the end, my Illaoi usually ends up with a mix of these items. She’s got a bunch of health, she’s resistant to both physical and magic damage, and she can even heal herself a bit. She’s like a walking fortress. I find that the best way to play is to let her and another tank take damage for the team while the high-damage characters deal some pain from the backline.
Winning the Game
With this build, I’ve managed to win quite a few games. Illaoi just becomes so hard to deal with. She doesn’t die easily, and she gives my team the time they need to take out the enemy. It’s not always a guaranteed win, of course, but it’s definitely a build that I enjoy playing and that’s worked out well for me. I hope it helps some of you guys out, too! Keep trying new things, and have a great time!
