Alright, so I was playing Marvel Snap the other day, and I got kinda confused about how this “priority” thing works. I mean, I’ve been playing for a bit, but sometimes it just doesn’t make sense which cards flip first. So, I decided to do a little digging to figure it out.
First, I started playing a bunch of games, just paying extra close attention to who was going first each turn. I noticed a pattern: whoever was winning more locations at the start of the turn seemed to get priority. But, it wasn’t always that simple.

Digging Deeper
Then, I started reading up on it, looking at some guides and stuff online. Turns out, it’s not just about winning more locations. If you’re tied on the number of locations you’re winning, the game looks at the total power you have on the board. The player with more power gets to go first. That explained a few games where I was like, “Wait, why did they go first?!”
- So basically, at the start of each turn, the game checks:
- Who’s winning more locations? They go first.
- If it’s a tie on locations, who has more total power? That person goes first.
Putting it to the Test
Armed with this knowledge, I went back to playing. I started trying to actually control priority. Like, if I knew I had a card that worked better if it was revealed second, I’d try to make sure I wasn’t winning at the start of the turn. Sometimes that meant intentionally not playing cards in certain locations, or even letting my opponent take a location just to mess with the total power.
It was pretty cool once I started getting the hang of it. I won a few games by making sure my cards flipped at just the right time. Of course, I also messed up a few times, ha! But that’s part of learning, right?
So yeah, that’s my little adventure in understanding priority in Marvel Snap. It’s definitely something that can give you an edge if you pay attention to it. I’m still no expert, but I feel like I’ve got a much better grasp on it now. Hopefully, this helps some of you guys out there too!
