I’ve been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons a bunch lately, and I’m really into collecting all the artwork for my museum. There’s this one painting, the “moving painting,” that I really wanted to get my hands on. So, I started looking around for it, checking Redd’s boat every time he showed up in my town.
Redd, that sneaky fox, he always has a mix of real and fake art. But the good thing about the moving painting is that it’s always real. There’s no fake version of it! So, if you see it on Redd’s boat, you know it’s the real deal. I kept this in mind and I went to that boat every time Redd was around.

I also did a little digging online to learn more about the real-world painting that the moving painting is based on. Turns out, it’s a take on a famous painting called “Ophelia” by a guy named Sir John Everett Millais. I looked up some pictures, and it’s a really beautiful painting of a woman floating in a river, surrounded by flowers. But in the real one, there are some white flowers that aren’t in the game version. Cool to know the history behind it, right?
After a few visits to Redd, finally, there it was! The moving painting was right there on his boat. I was so excited! I snatched it up right away and ran to the museum to donate it. Blathers, the museum owl, was pretty happy to get it, too. Now, my museum’s art collection is one step closer to being complete.
Here’s a tip for all you Animal Crossing players out there.
- Always buy the moving painting when you see it. There is no fake version of this painting.
- Checking Redd’s boat every time is crucial. It is very important to get art.
If you’re into collecting art in the game, keep an eye out for the moving painting. It’s a guaranteed genuine piece, and it’s a pretty cool one to have in your museum.
Keep At It
I’m still on the hunt for more art to fill up my museum. It’s a fun challenge, and it’s really satisfying to see the collection grow. Plus, you learn a bit about real-world art along the way.
