Alright, so I’ve been grinding a ton on MTG Arena lately, trying to figure out the best deck to climb the ladder. It’s been a wild ride, let me tell you.
I started with Premier Draft. My friends are all saying that it is the best option if I can keep winning. Well, I’m not that good of a player, so I am not sure how many wins I can get. But the payoff is pretty good if I really make it. You know, I gotta keep a positive win rate. Otherwise, I am just gonna lose all my gems.

Then I started messing around with some of the pre-constructed decks. Goblins Everywhere!, that’s the name that kept popping up. That goblin deck, it’s actually pretty fun. Just swarm the board with a bunch of little dudes and hope for the best. It’s not exactly a strategic masterpiece, but it gets the job done sometimes.
But then I wanted something with a bit more oomph, you know? So I started looking into what the top players were using. Apparently, metagaming is the big thing. You basically look at what everyone else is playing and build your deck to counter it. So I started checking out these top decks for the month. Mono-Red Aggro, Esper Control, they were all over the place.
Here’s what I ended up trying:
- Mono-Red Aggro: This one’s all about speed. Hit them hard, hit them fast, and don’t let up. I tried to get my creatures out as quickly as possible and just overwhelm my opponents before they could even set up their defenses. It was a blast when it worked, but if they managed to stabilize, I was usually toast. I used this for a long time. But I wanted to try something else.
- Esper Control: This one was the complete opposite. Lots of removal spells, counterspells, all that good stuff. The goal was to just shut down everything my opponent tried to do and then slowly grind them out. It felt powerful, but man, the games took forever. I am not sure if this is for me. I want to finish my games fast.
After all that experimenting, I’m still not sure what the “best” deck really is. It seems like it really depends on what everyone else is playing, and that changes all the time! I guess that’s what makes the game fun, right? It keeps you on your toes. But honestly, I think I’m just gonna go back to my Goblins for a while. They might not be the best, but they’re definitely the most fun for me.
