Okay, so, I’ve been playing Pokemon Go for a while now, and I’ve always loved the Ultra League. It’s like, not as restrictive as Great League, but it doesn’t have all those crazy legendaries in Master League. Anyway, I’ve been messing around with different teams, trying to find something that really clicks, you know?
Recently, I started playing with Cresselia. I heard it was good, so I figured, why not? First off, I had to get one, which took a bit of raiding, but I finally got a decent one with good IVs. I powered it up a few times, and it is already close to the 2500 CP cap. Then I taught it a second move because you have to do that, right?

The moves took some trial and error. I started with Confusion as the fast move because it’s a strong Psychic-type move. For the charged moves, I initially went with Grass Knot and Moonblast. I saw on some website that this is kind of the standard, and it seemed okay at first. I mean, Grass Knot hits those Water and Ground-types that Cresselia doesn’t like. That is what I have done firstly.
I used this setup in a few battles, and it was… alright. I won some, lost some, nothing too crazy. I noticed that it struggled against Steel-types, which are pretty common in Ultra League. I also experimented with other moves, like Future Sight, but it didn’t feel right. It’s just too slow, you know? I would get farmed down before I could even use it. I have tried a lot of times for finding the best one.
Then I thought about other Pokemon to pair with Cresselia. I tried using it as a lead, but it didn’t really work out too well. It seemed to do better when I switched it in after my lead fainted. I tried pairing it with different Pokemon, like Nidoqueen, Articuno, and Obstagoon. The Nidoqueen and Articuno combo worked pretty well a few times, especially when the opponent led with a Cresselia. I could usually bait out shields with Nidoqueen’s Earth Power and then switch to Articuno to handle it.
I also tried using a team with Steelix as the lead, followed by Cresselia and another Pokemon. That team did okay, but it still felt like something was missing. I watched some videos online of people using Cresselia, and they all had different strategies. Some were using it with Galvantula, which I thought was interesting because of the Bug-type Lunge attack. I don’t have a good Galvantula yet, so I couldn’t try that out.
After a lot of experimenting, I realized that Cresselia is more of a support Pokemon, you know? It can take hits, dish out some damage, and cover some weaknesses. It’s not really a sweeper or a closer. You need to pair it with Pokemon that can handle its weaknesses, like Steel-, Bug-, and Dark-types. I’m still trying to figure out the perfect team, but I’m getting closer.
- Cresselia is definitely strong in Ultra League.
- Confusion, Grass Knot, and Moonblast are a solid moveset.
- It’s important to have teammates that cover Cresselia’s weaknesses.
- It’s more of a support Pokemon than a carry.
My current thoughts:
I’m going to keep playing and trying out different teams. I think I’ll try to build a Galvantula next and see how that works with Cresselia. Maybe I’ll even try it in Great League sometime, just for fun. Anyway, that’s my Cresselia journey so far. It’s been a lot of trial and error, but I’m learning a lot, and I think I’m finally starting to get the hang of it. This is really an amazing experience!
