I stumbled upon this cool idea the other day to make a Maypole, you know, for May Day. I thought, “Why not?” It seemed like a fun little project. So, I got started.
Gathering Supplies
First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I checked online, and apparently, you only need some wood and those yellow flowers, dandelions. Luckily, I had a bunch of wood lying around from an old project. As for the dandelions, my backyard is practically a dandelion farm, so that was easy peasy.

Finding Dandelions
I grabbed a basket and headed out to the yard. My kids love picking flowers, so they joined in. We made a game of it, seeing who could pick the most dandelions. It was a blast! We ended up with way more than we needed, but hey, better too many than not enough, right?
Prepping the Wood
Next, I got to work on the wood. I just found ten pieces of wood, and that was it! No need to cut or anything complicated. I did give them a quick once-over to make sure there weren’t any splinters. Safety first, especially with the kids around.
Putting It Together
Now for the fun part – putting it all together! Since the wood didn’t need to cut, so I just gathered them up. Then I added four dandelions to the wood. That’s it, my Maypole was done!
Final Touches
I took a step back to admire my handiwork. It wasn’t perfect, but it was ours, and we made it together. The kids were super proud of themselves, and honestly, so was I. It’s the little things, you know? We set it up in the yard, and it looked pretty darn good, if I do say so myself.
So, there you have it – my Maypole adventure. It was a simple project, but it brought us a lot of joy. Plus, it’s a fun way to celebrate May Day. If you’re looking for a little something to do with the family, I highly recommend giving it a try. You might just surprise yourself with what you can create!
