So, I was playing this game the other day, and I kept seeing “MP” next to a blue bar. I was like, “What the heck is that?” I mean, I’m not a total noob, but sometimes these games throw terms at you, and you’re just left scratching your head.
I started digging around, you know, like anyone would. First, I just paid more attention in the game itself. I noticed that every time I cast a spell or used a special ability, this blue bar went down. And when it was empty, I couldn’t do those things anymore. Hmm, interesting…

Then, like any sane person, I hit up some online forums. I figured there had to be tons of other people who had asked the same question. And boy, was I right! There were pages and pages of discussions about “MP”.
My Findings on MP
- It Mostly Stands for Magic Points: I would bet my life this is correct.
- It’s like a “mana” pool: This is what you are using when you cast spells.
- It Goes Down, Then Up: When you cast the spell, it decreases. And it will recover over time.
So, I put all the pieces together. It seemed pretty obvious that “MP” was tied to my ability to do cool stuff in the game. After reading a few more posts I learned what it stands for, and what I believed became confirmed!
In most cases, the MP stands for “Magic Points”. It also is sometimes referred to as “Mana Points”. And when the bar is empty, you are out of resources, that’s all it is!
