Okay, let’s talk about how I finally figured out how to deal with Viego in Wild Rift. It was a journey, let me tell you.
So, I’ve been playing a ton of Wild Rift lately, right? And for the longest time, Viego was my absolute nightmare. I’d see him locked in on the enemy team and just groan internally. He’s so slippery, gets resets, heals like crazy – the whole nine yards. I felt like I tried everything.
My Trials and Tribulations
First, I went through the “just burst him down” phase. I figured, okay, if I play, like, a super aggressive assassin, I can just one-shot him before he gets rolling.
- Tried Zed: Nope. He’d possess someone, heal up, and I’d be out of cooldowns.
- Went with Akali: Slightly better, but still… that sustain.
- Even tried a spicy Fizz pick: Same problem. He’d just survive and turn the fight.
It was frustrating. I felt like I was hitting my head against a brick wall.
Then I thought, “Okay, maybe I need to control him.” So I started experimenting with champions that had a lot of CC (crowd control).
- Played a bunch of Nautilus: Could lock him down, sure, but my team wouldn’t always follow up.
- Tried some Alistar: Similar issue. I’d knock him up, but he’d just dash away and heal.
I was starting to lose hope. Was Viego just unbeatable? Was I destined to be a Viego victim forever?
The Breakthrough
Then, it finally clicked. It wasn’t about one specific champion, but about a combination of factors and changing my playstyle. I started focusing on these things:
- Early Game Pressure: I realized I needed to shut him down early. Viego is a snowball champion – he gets strong with kills. So, I started playing champions that could invade his jungle, contest his farm, and generally make his early game miserable. Think Lee Sin, Graves, even a well-played Xin Zhao.
- Anti-Heal: This was HUGE. I’d been neglecting anti-heal items for too long. Things like Mortal Reminder (if I was playing an AD champion) or Morellonomicon (for AP champions) made a massive difference. It cut down his healing significantly.
- Vision Control: Viego relies on getting picks and snowballing. I started prioritizing vision, placing wards in his jungle and around objectives. This made it much harder for him to sneak around and get those surprise kills.
- Don’t Bunch Up: Viego’s ultimate and his possession passive are strongest when your team is grouped together. I consciously started to spread out more during team fights, making it harder for him to get resets.
It sounds like small changes, right? But by combining an early game counter jungler, buy anti-heal, to put wards to give better vision, and be aware of spacing on team fights, I had way more successful against him. Instead of getting frustrated and tilted,I can actually start to play my own game!.
