Alright, guys, so I’ve been getting wrecked by Samira in my games lately. Seriously, it felt like no matter what I did, she’d just dash around, get a full combo off, and ult me into oblivion. I was pulling my hair out, trying to figure out how to deal with this champion. So, I decided to buckle down and really learn how to counter her. Here’s what I did, and how it worked out.
Research and Planning
First, I watched a bunch of high-level gameplay. I wasn’t just watching for fun, I was specifically looking for how pro players dealt with Samira. I paid attention to which champions they picked against her, what items they built, and how they positioned themselves in lane and teamfights.

I also read a lot of forum posts and guides. Gotta get that community knowledge, you know? I found some common themes: champions with strong crowd control (CC) and the ability to burst her down before she can get her ultimate off were key.
Putting it into Practice
Based on my research, I decided to focus on a few champions:
- Veigar: His cage (Event Horizon) is amazing for shutting her down. If she dashes in, she’s trapped, and I can usually burst her.
- Vayne:Her condemn can stop samira’s dash and ultimate.
- Rammus: Okay, this one was a bit more experimental, but the idea was to taunt her and let my team collapse on her. Plus, Rammus is just fun.
I queued up for some games, specifically trying to pick these champions whenever I saw the enemy lock in Samira.
The Results (and Some Failures)
It wasn’t all smooth sailing, of course. My first few games with Rammus were… rough. I misjudged the timing of my taunt a few times, and Samira just danced around me. But I learned from those mistakes.
Veigar was a lot more consistent. I practiced landing my cage, and it made a HUGE difference. I started anticipating her dashes and placed the cage preemptively. When it worked, it was glorious. She’d dash in, get stunned, and my team would just delete her.
I also realized the importance of itemization. I started building items with armor a lot * early game, the extra defense helped me survive her initial burst.
The Vayne pick also worked out pretty well!
I found that waiting for her to engage and then use my condemn was extremely effective.
Also, I can tumble to dodge her projectiles and out maneuver her, which helped me a lot.

My takeaway
Countering Samira isn’t about some magic trick. It’s about picking the right champions, understanding how they interact with her kit, and then practicing those matchups. It takes time and effort, but it’s definitely doable. And hey, it feels pretty damn good to finally shut down that whirling dervish of * i can play with samira confidently.
