Alright, so I wanted to get into Chivalry 2 with my buddies, but we’re all on different platforms. I’m on PC, one friend’s rocking a PlayStation 5, and another’s on Xbox Series X. Figuring out this whole cross-platform party thing was a bit of a head-scratcher at first, but we got there. Here’s how it all went down.
First Attempts (and Failures)
Initially, we thought it would be super straightforward. We all booted up the game, looked for some kind of “invite friends” option, and… nothing. There’s no in-game system to directly invite players from other platforms. That kinda bummed us out. We spent a good 20 minutes just messing around in the menus, thinking we were missing something obvious.

Server Browser Shenanigans
Then, one of my friends, who is a genious, suggested, “Hey, let’s just try to join the same server through the server browser, and hopefully, we will get in the same team!”. It seemed like a long shot, but we were willing to try anything. We all filtered the server list by the same region and game mode. It took some refreshing and a bit of luck, but we managed to all find the same server with enough open slots. We clicked “Join” at roughly the same time.
And…it worked! Sort of. We were all in the same server, but not necessarily on the same team. Sometimes, we ended up fighting against each other, which was actually pretty fun in its own way, but you know, not really doing our target…
Manual Team Balancing
Then it was just a matter of manually trying to switch teams. Once we were in a game together, one or two of us would try to switch to the other team. The game doesn’t always let you do this immediately, especially if the teams are unbalanced. So, there was a lot of repeatedly clicking “Change Team” and hoping for the best. Sometimes it took a few tries, or even waiting for the next match to start, but eventually, we’d all get on the same side.
The Takeaway
So, yeah, Chivalry 2’s cross-platform party system isn’t exactly elegant. It’s more like a workaround. Here’s the gist of what we do now:
- Coordinate: We use voice chat to decide on a server region and game mode.
- Server Browser: We all go to the server browser and try to find the same server.
- Join Together: We try to join the server at the same time.
- Team Shuffle: We manually switch teams until we’re all on the same side.
It’s not perfect, but it gets the job done. It’s a little clumsy at the begin, but it’s still totally worth it to bash each other with swords and axes, no matter what platform we’re on. They should really add a proper cross-platform party system, though… Hint, hint, developers!
