Okay, guys, let’s dive into my little experiment with the League item changes for 2024. I gotta say, it was a bit of a rollercoaster!
First things first, I jumped into the PBE (Public Beta Environment). I figured, why not go straight to the source, right? It’s the best way to get a feel for the changes before they hit the live servers.

Getting Started
- Downloaded the PBE client. This took a bit, my internet’s not exactly top-of-the-line.
- Created a PBE account. Pretty standard stuff, just had to link it to my main account.
- Logged in and… waited. There was a queue, of course. Everyone wants to try the new stuff!
Once I was in, I headed straight to the practice tool. I wanted to mess around with the new items without the pressure of a real game. I picked my main, Ahri, because, well, I know her like the back of my hand.
Experimenting with Items
I started by checking out the item shop. Man, there were a LOT of changes. Some items were gone, some were new, and some were just… different. It was a bit overwhelming, honestly.
I started building some of the new items, just to see how they felt. I tried out a few different combinations, focusing on the items that seemed like they’d be good on Ahri. Some felt pretty good, others… not so much. It was a lot of trial and error.
- Try the new item A, it feel good when I use spell.
- Try the new item B, It seems not powerful than before.
Then, I jumped into a few custom games against bots. This gave me a better sense of how the items performed in a more “real” game scenario, even if it was just against AI. I paid attention to things like my damage output, my survivability, and how the items felt during different stages of the game. For example use the ultimate to test the damage.
Taking It to Normals
After I felt like I had a decent grasp of the items, I braved some normal games on the PBE. This was the real test. Playing against other people is where you really see how things work. It’s good way to test the build order.
I won some, I lost some. That’s just how it goes. But I definitely learned a lot about which items worked well and which ones didn’t. It was a lot of adjusting my builds on the fly, depending on the enemy team and how the game was going. And I write some note about what item I use on different situation.
Final Thoughts (For Now)
Overall, it was a fun, if sometimes frustrating, experience. The item changes are definitely going to shake things up, and it’s going to take some time to figure out the new optimal builds. But hey, that’s part of the fun, right? I plan on continuing to experiment and see what other crazy combinations I can come up with. Gotta stay ahead of the curve, you know?
