So I hopped into Valorant the other day, thinking I’d give Sage a go. I’ve seen people do some crazy stuff with her, and I was like, “Why not?” Let me tell you, it was a journey.
Getting Started
First off, I jumped into a custom game. Gotta get those basics down, right? I spent a good chunk of time just running around, throwing her healing orbs at walls. Yeah, I know, not exactly pro-level stuff, but hey, gotta start somewhere.

The Healing Orb
Okay, so this thing is pretty cool. You can chuck it at teammates who are hurting, and it gives them a nice little health boost. I practiced bouncing it off walls, trying to get it to land just right. I even managed to heal myself a few times when I accidentally shot myself while messing around. Don’t ask.
The Slow Orb
This is where things got interesting. You throw these bad boys, and they create a zone that slows anyone who walks through it. It’s not just a little slow, either. It’s like wading through mud. I started placing them in doorways, trying to block off chokepoints. It worked, well, sometimes. Other times, I just ended up slowing myself down. Oops.
Barrier Orb – The Wall
This is Sage’s signature move, I guess. You can put up this massive ice wall. I mean, it’s huge. I practiced placing it in all sorts of spots, trying to block off entrances, create cover, you name it. I even tried boosting myself up to high places. It was clunky, but hey, it worked a few times.
Resurrection – Bringing Back the Dead
This is the big one. Sage’s ultimate. You can bring a dead teammate back to life. I only got to use it a couple of times in some unrated matches, but man, it felt good. The animation is pretty cool, too. You see them all ghostly, and then bam, they’re back in the fight.
Putting It All Together
After a lot of trial and error, I started to get the hang of it. I was using my slow orbs to control areas, my healing orbs to keep teammates alive, and my wall to block off sightlines or create safe passages. I even got a few clutch resurrects off.
Still Learning
I’m definitely not a Sage master yet, but I’m getting there. There’s still so much to learn. Like, I saw some people using her wall to boost their teammates to crazy angles. I gotta figure that out. And there are probably all sorts of sneaky slow orb placements that I haven’t even thought of.
So, that’s my Sage journey so far. It’s been a lot of fun, and a lot of me just staring at the screen wondering why i can not do that. But hey, that’s part of the learning process, right? If you are thinking about trying out Sage, I say go for it. Just be prepared to make some mistakes along the way. It is part of the fun.
