Alright, so I was super pumped to dive back into Sea of Thieves on my PC. I had some epic adventures on my Xbox, and I was itching to see how the game looked on my rig. But man, was I in for a nasty surprise.
Getting Started
First things first, I fired up the game and tried to join a server. Bam! Right off the bat, I got hit with this weird “alabasterbeard” error. I was like, “What the heck is an alabasterbeard?” I’d never seen anything like it before.

Troubleshooting
-
Checking My Connection: My first thought was, “Okay, maybe my internet’s acting up.” So, I did a quick speed test. Everything looked fine. My ping was low, and I wasn’t dropping any packets. So, it wasn’t the internet. I tried again and I got hit with this weird “alabasterbeard” error. So I must keep trying.

Searching Online: Next, I hit up the internet. I figured someone else must have had this problem before. I found a bunch of forum posts and articles about “Beard Errors” in Sea of Thieves, but nothing specific about “alabasterbeard.” There is some information mentioned on the Sea of Thieves website but there was not any specific about “alabasterbeard”. Great.

Trying Again: I decided to give it another shot. Maybe it was just a temporary glitch, right? Nope. “Alabasterbeard” again. I tried a few more times, but it was the same story. I was starting to get pretty frustrated.
Giving Up (For Now)
After a couple of hours of trying everything, I decided to throw in the towel. I mean, I could play on my Xbox just fine, so it wasn’t the end of the world. But I was bummed because I really wanted to experience the game on my PC. I have also played on PC before with no issues at all. Nothing works now.
I’m still not sure what’s causing the “alabasterbeard” error. I’ve seen some people online saying that it might be related to server issues or something, but I haven’t found a definitive answer. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see if the developers release a fix or if someone figures out a workaround.
It’s a real shame because Sea of Thieves is such an awesome game. I was really looking forward to sailing the high seas with my crew on PC. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get it working soon. Until then, I’ll be plundering and pillaging on my Xbox, I guess.
