Oh boy, Lucian, that’s a name I haven’t heard in a while in the bot lane. I used to main him back in the day, but I’ve moved on to other champions. But recently, I’ve been seeing a lot of Lucian picks, and it got me thinking, “Who’s the best support to pair with this gunslinging maniac?” So, I rolled up my sleeves, booted up the game, and started experimenting.
First, I tried some of the classic pairings. You know, the ones everyone talks about.
- Braum: This was a no-brainer. Their passives work so well together, it’s almost unfair. I jumped into a few games, and man, it was a slaughter. Braum’s stun, combined with Lucian’s burst, just melted enemies. We dominated the lane, got fed, and carried the game. It felt good, real good.
- Thresh: Another popular choice. The idea is that Thresh can hook ’em, and Lucian can delete ’em. And yeah, it worked. When Thresh landed a hook, it was pretty much a guaranteed kill. But I felt like it wasn’t as consistent as the Braum combo. Plus, my Thresh skills are a bit rusty, to say the least.
Then, I decided to get a little creative. I remembered Lucian’s rework where his autos get a boost after he’s healed or shielded. That’s when a light bulb went off in my head.
- Nami: Her E ability is perfect for Lucian. It gives him that extra oomph on his autos, plus the heals and the bubble? Forget about it. We were unstoppable. I felt like a genius for figuring this out. Every trade was in our favor, and we snowballed hard.
Feeling adventurous, I even tried a support that is a bit unusual.
- Senna: I know, I know, she’s usually played as an ADC, but hear me out. Her Q heals, which buffs Lucian’s autos, and their combined poke is insane. We poked the enemy bot lane out of lane so many times, they probably uninstalled the game after. It was hilarious and surprisingly effective.
Finally, I went back to the basics with an engage support.
- Leona: You can’t go wrong with the queen of crowd control. Leona’s stuns gave Lucian all the time in the world to unload his damage. It was a classic case of “lock ’em down, blow ’em up.” We stomped lane, roamed mid, and basically became a two-man army.
My Choice
After all that experimenting, I’ve come to a conclusion. While all of these supports have their strengths, the best one for Lucian, in my humble opinion, is Nami. She just synergizes with him so well. The extra damage from her E, the heals, the bubble, it all comes together to make Lucian an absolute monster. So, if you’re looking to dominate the bot lane with Lucian, give Nami a try. You won’t regret it. At least, that’s what I found out after hours and many games of trying my best. It feels good to find the best pair for my old main.
