I’ve been playing Animal Crossing lately, and you know how it is with Redd and his shady art deals. Well, today I tried to get a Serene Painting, and I want to share how it went.
First off, I hopped on my boat and sailed to Redd’s Treasure Trawler. He always has a bunch of stuff, but only one real painting or statue per visit. Today, he had a Serene Painting, and I was like, “Cool, I need that for my museum!”

- Walked up to the painting.
- Looked at it real close.
Now, here’s the tricky part. Redd sells fakes, and you gotta be careful. I remembered seeing something online about the Serene Painting. I think they call it the “Lady with an Ermine” in real life, the fake one looks a bit off.
So, I started inspecting the painting. I focused on the ermine she’s holding. The real one is supposed to be all white, right? But the fake one has some grey or darker fur on it. I stared and stared, trying to see if there was any weird coloring.
- Checked the color of the ermine.
- Compared it to what I remembered from online guides.
I’m squinting at the screen, thinking, “Is that grey? Or is it just the lighting in this dingy boat?” It was tough, but I was pretty sure it looked too dark. I started to doubt myself, though. What if I was wrong and missed out on a real one?
My Decision
After a good five minutes of staring, I decided to pass on it. I just had a bad feeling about the color. It didn’t seem right. I was bummed, but I didn’t want to risk getting a fake and being stuck with it.
So, I left empty-handed. It’s a gamble with Redd, you know? Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Today, I played it safe. Maybe next time I’ll get lucky with the Serene Painting. Or maybe I should just stick to catching bugs and fish!
Anyway, that’s how my art adventure went today. It’s always a guessing game with Redd! Hope you have better luck than me!
