Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Valorant lately, and let me tell you, the default keybinds? Not for me. I mean, who uses ‘F’ for their ultimate? Madness, right?
So, I dove headfirst into the settings to fix this mess. First thing I did was change my ultimate ability. I moved it over to ‘Q’ because, I don’t know, it just feels more natural there, you know? Closer to my movement keys.

Changing Abilities
- Opened the settings menu.
- Navigated to the controls section.
- Found the ability I wanted to rebind.
- Clicked on it and pressed the new key I wanted.
Next up, those weapon slots. Having to reach for ‘1’, ‘2’, and ‘3’ in the middle of a firefight? Forget about it. I swapped those around too. Now my primary is on my mouse wheel click, secondary on a side mouse button, and melee on another. Feels way smoother.
Changing Equipment
- Went back into settings.
- Stayed in the controls tab.
- Scrolled to the equipment section.
- Rebound each weapon slot one by one.
And don’t even get me started on communication. I changed push-to-talk to a different key, ‘V’, so I can easily chat with my team without accidentally setting off an ability. Because that’s happened. More than once.
Changing Communication
- Still in settings, under controls.
- This time, checked out the communication section.
- Rebound push-to-talk to something comfortable.
Honestly, it took a bit of trial and error. I played a few games, tweaked some things here and there, and played some more. But now? My keybinds are locked in. It’s like night and day, seriously. My gameplay has gotten so much better just from these simple changes.
So, if you’re struggling with the default Valorant settings, don’t be afraid to experiment. It’s all about finding what works best for you. Just get in there and start messing around. You’ll be surprised what a difference it makes!
