Alright, so today I’m gonna talk about those hardpoint rotations in Departures. It’s a real pain, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not so bad. I remember when I first started playing, I was totally lost. I spent hours just running around like a headless chicken, not knowing where to go next.
So, first thing I did was study the map. I hopped into a few custom games and just explored. I found out that the hardpoints in Departures follow a pretty predictable pattern. It’s like a circle, always moving clockwise.

- First hardpoint is near the baggage claim area.
- Second one is upstairs by the security checkpoint.
- Then it moves to the gates area.
- Fourth is in the middle near the shops.
- And finally, it goes back to the starting area, and the whole thing repeats.
After figuring out the rotation, I started working on my positioning. The trick is to always be one step ahead. When one hardpoint is about to end, I start moving towards the next one. This way, I’m already there when it becomes active, and I can get a few easy defenses.
I also started paying more attention to my teammates. If they were pushing a certain area, I would try to support them, but the goal was always to be close to the next hardpoint. It’s all about communication. I would always call out where the enemies were and which hardpoint was coming up next.
It took a lot of practice, and I mean a lot, I’m not gonna lie, I died, like, a million times, but eventually, I started to get the hang of it. Now, I can usually anticipate where the next hardpoint is going to be, and I’m able to get there first.
It is worth to mention that it is very important to figure out the power position, the place where you can guard the hardpoint and also gain advantages from the environment.
Of course, it’s not always perfect. Sometimes the other team is just better, or they get lucky. But by studying the rotations, positioning myself correctly, and communicating with my team, I’ve definitely improved my hardpoint game in Departures.
So, yeah, that’s basically my journey with hardpoint rotations in Departures. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it. Hopefully, my experience can help some of you guys out there. Just remember: study the map, anticipate the rotations, and work with your team. You’ll get it eventually!
