Today I’m gonna talk about how I finally nailed down the best moveset for my Rapidash in Pokemon Go. Man, it took some trial and error, let me tell you!
Getting Started with Rapidash
So, first off, I caught a pretty decent Ponyta a while back. After walking it as my buddy for what felt like forever, I finally got enough candies to evolve it into Rapidash. I was stoked! This fiery horse is just so cool looking. But then came the hard part – figuring out what moves to teach it.

Experimenting with Fast Attacks
Rapidash can learn a few different Fast Attacks, like Low Kick, Ember, Fire Spin, and Incinerate. From what I read online, people seem to really like Incinerate. They say it hits harder and generates energy faster than the others. But I wanted to see for myself.
- First, I tried Low Kick. It was alright, but it didn’t really pack a punch.
- Next up was Ember. It felt a bit better, especially against those pesky Grass-types.
- Then I gave Fire Spin a go. It was definitely stronger, and I liked the feel of it, but charging up my special move still took too long.
- Finally, I switched to Incinerate. And boy, was that a game-changer! It felt way more powerful, and I could use my Charged Attacks much more often. This was the one!
Choosing the Right Charged Attack
Okay, so Incinerate was locked in as my Fast Attack. Now I needed to figure out the best Charged Attack to go with it. Rapidash has a few options, but I focused on two that made the most sense for a Fire-type: Flame Charge and Drill Run. To be honest, I didn’t like the others that much.
- I started with Flame Charge. Not great. It charges up pretty fast but it really didn’t do enough damage for my liking.
- Then I used a TM to get Drill Run. This was interesting! It’s a Ground-type move, which is super effective against Rock and other Fire-types. This gives Rapidash some nice coverage.
The Winning Combination
After battling with both, I decided that the combo of Incinerate and Drill Run is the way to go. Incinerate deals a ton of damage, and the faster energy generation means I use Drill Run more often. Drill Run helps deal with those types that give Rapidash trouble. I can dish out solid damage while also being ready for those Ground or Rock-type switch-ins.
It was a long process but I had fun, it’s worth it to have my Rapidash battling at its best. Hope this helps some of you trainers out there!
