Okay, so, today I wanted to mess around with MLB The Show. I’ve been playing this game for years, always getting the new version every year, no matter what. One thing I’m always curious about is the roster updates.
First, I opened the game and started looking around. I noticed some player changes right away. Like, Evan Phillips is now an RP for the Dodgers, and Blake Treinen is a CP. That’s different from what I remember. Then I saw Kirby Yates is now a CP for the Braves, which is also new to me. I dove deeper into the rosters, and yeah, lots of changes. Mike Trout’s stats got a bump – his CON R is 100, and his overall is 97 now. It used to be 95, if I recall correctly.

I decided to do some digging online about how often these updates happen. Found a blog post by someone named Fiona, talking about this very thing. She basically confirmed that, yeah, MLB The Show does update rosters to stay current. Makes sense, but it’s cool to see it in action.
Then I stumbled upon some details about a specific game update. It mentioned things like updated CIN City Connect jerseys and some commentary adjustments. No real gameplay changes this time, but it’s good to know they’re always tweaking stuff.
- Started playing around with MLB The Show.
- Observed player role changes (Evan Phillips, Blake Treinen, Kirby Yates).
- Noticed stat changes (Mike Trout).
- Researched online about roster update frequency.
- Confirmed that the game does update rosters regularly.
- Discovered details about a recent game update.
There was also some talk about an XP cap, like 15,000 XP daily or something. I don’t really pay much attention to that, I just like playing the game.
So yeah, it looks like they do keep the rosters pretty up-to-date. I just wanted to share my little investigation here. It’s pretty cool that they put in the effort to keep things accurate. Checked out some minor league stuff too, and there’s a whole lot of detail there, but that’s a rabbit hole for another day.
I also found a way to play with friends in cross-platform play, climb the leaderboards and compete against others online.

Updates Are a Thing
Anyway, if you’re a fan of MLB The Show, rest easy knowing the rosters are getting updated. I’ll probably keep digging into this and see what else I can find, but for now, I’m just gonna enjoy some games. Maybe I’ll post another update if I find anything interesting.
