Okay, so I’ve been on this Pokémon Go kick lately, and it’s all about that CP, right? Combat Power. Gotta get it as high as possible. I was seeing all these crazy numbers online and I thought, “I gotta figure this out.” So, I started digging in.
First, I went around catching a bunch of Pokémon. Pidgeys, Rattatas, whatever I could find. I wanted a good mix to work with. Then I started looking at their stats. Each Pokémon has a base CP, and then it goes up when you power them up with Stardust and Candy. Simple enough, but there’s more to it.

- Catch a ton of Pokémon: I mean, really, just catch everything that moves.
- Check their IVs: This is a whole thing. IVs are like hidden stats that affect how high a Pokémon’s CP can go. There are apps and websites that help you figure these out, it was a bit of a learning curve. I used a few to double-check and eventually got the hang of it.
- Power up the good ones: Once I found some Pokémon with high IVs, those were the ones I focused on. I used my Stardust and Candy to power them up as much as I could.
It took some time, and a lot of walking, to be honest. My step count went way up! But I finally started getting some Pokémon with really high CP. I even managed to evolve a few, which gives a big CP boost. I evolved a Magikarp into a Gyarados, and man, that thing’s CP went through the roof! That was awesome. It took 400 candies but it was worth it.
I also learned that different types of Pokémon have different max CPs. Like, a Dragonite is naturally going to have a higher max CP than a Weedle. So, I started focusing on catching those rarer, stronger types. Raids became my new thing. Teaming up with other players to take down a powerful Pokémon, and then trying to catch it myself. It’s a whole social thing, too, which is cool.
My highest CP now
So, now I have a few Pokémon with CP over 3000. It’s not the highest out there, I know, but I’m pretty proud of it. I even have a Slaking that’s over 4000 CP, but honestly, its moves are not the greatest. Still, it looks impressive. I also have a Metagross, Gyarados, and Dragonite that are all powered up pretty high.
It’s a grind, no doubt. But it’s fun seeing those numbers go up, and battling in gyms is way more satisfying when you have some powerful Pokémon on your team. I’m still learning new things every day, and there are always new Pokémon to catch and power up. It’s kind of addicting, not gonna lie. But it is such a good feeling to see the fruits of your labor paying off in a powerful team.
