Okay, so, I gotta tell you about this race I did in F1 23, the Miami track. Man, it was a doozy. I spent a good chunk of time just trying to get my car set up right for this one. Miami, you know, it’s a tough track with all those tight corners and long straights.
First off, I jumped into the time trial mode. Needed to get a feel for the track and start tweaking the setup. I started with the default, balanced setup, you know, the one the game gives you. Felt okay, but the car was a bit sluggish coming out of those slow corners, and I was losing a lot of time on the straights.

So, I started messing with the aerodynamics. Upped the front wing angle a bit to get more downforce in the front. That helped with the turn-in, especially in the chicane. Then I lowered the rear wing to try and squeeze out some more top speed. Gotta go fast on those straights, right?
The real tricky part was the suspension.
- I softened the front suspension a little to make it less sensitive to the bumps and more stable under braking.
- stiffened the rear a tad to help with rotation and prevent the rear end from stepping out.
Then came the transmission. I played around with the on-throttle differential, trying to find that sweet spot between traction and stability. Ended up going for something in the middle, not too aggressive, but not too loose either.
Brakes were another thing. Miami’s got some heavy braking zones, so I needed to make sure the car stopped when I wanted it to. I increased the brake pressure a bit, but not too much, ’cause I didn’t want to lock up the wheels all the time. Moved the brake bias forward a little, just to make sure the front did most of the work.
Tire pressures, I didn’t mess with those too much. Just a slight adjustment, nothing crazy. Tire temperature always make me crazy!
After a lot of trial and error, I finally landed on a setup that felt good. The car was responsive, stable, and fast. It may not be the best or fastest one, but it was pretty good for me. I was able to put in some decent lap times, and most importantly, I was having fun.
Then I went into a race weekend. Qualified in the top ten, which was a good start. The race itself was intense. Lots of battling, a few close calls. But hey, that’s racing! I felt that I can get more points in this race with my setup.
In the end, I managed to finish in the points. Not a win, but I was happy with it. The setup worked well, and I felt like I could push the car to its limit. Miami’s a great track. But you need that stability, and the speed on the straight. So there you have it, my Miami setup adventure. It’s a work in progress, always tweaking, always trying to find those extra tenths. But that’s what makes it fun, right?
