Today I wanna talk about how I got a painting called “Las Meninas” in Animal Crossing. This game, you know, it has this sneaky fox named Redd who comes to your island sometimes to sell art. The thing is, most of the time he’s selling fakes, and you gotta be sharp to spot them.
So, Redd shows up on my island, and I am excited, ’cause I’m trying to fill up my museum with all the art. I boarded his shady little boat, and he’s got four pieces of art. You can only buy one, so you gotta choose real carefully. I’m looking at all of them, and one of them is the “Solemn Painting” – that’s “Las Meninas” in the game. I remembered reading something online about how to spot the fakes, but honestly, it’s tough!

I spent a good amount of time looking at this painting. Then I checked each of the details. I’m comparing it in my head to the real “Las Meninas” that I’ve seen pictures of online. In the real painting, there’s a guy in the back, standing in the doorway, right? Well, in the fake one, the doorway is just an open space, no guy. That’s one of the ways to tell if it’s fake.
I double-checked, maybe triple-checked, everything. I looked at the little Infanta Margarita, the main girl in the painting, her dress, the other people around her, the dog. Everything seemed to match up with the real one, but that doorway was bothering me.
- The doorway: In the real painting, there’s a figure standing in the doorway in the background. In the fake, the doorway is empty.
- The Infanta Margarita: Her dress and pose should match the real painting.
- The other figures: Check their positions and details carefully.
Finally, I decided to just go for it. I bought the painting. The next day, it arrives in the mail, and I’m so anxious. I took it straight to Blathers at the museum. He looks at it, and I’m holding my breath. And then… he says it’s real! I was so happy, I almost jumped. I donated it to the museum right away, and now it’s hanging there proudly with the other real art I managed to get.
It’s really cool to have this famous painting in my virtual museum. It makes the game even more fun, trying to collect all this art and learning about the real paintings they’re based on. Getting “Las Meninas” was a challenge, but it was so worth it. I guess you could say I outsmarted that sneaky fox Redd this time! This whole art collecting thing in Animal Crossing is way more exciting than I thought it would be.
Remember guys, always check the details.
Sometimes it’s the smallest thing that gives away a fake. Good luck with your art hunting, and watch out for that Redd!
