Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this new champ, Smolder, and let me tell you, playing him as support has been a wild ride. I wasn’t sure about it at first, but after a bunch of games, I think I’ve cracked the code, at least for my playstyle.
First off, I jumped into a few normal games to get a feel for his abilities. I tried a bunch of different rune setups, but I found that the ones with the highest win rates on those stat sites seemed to work best for me. It’s all about poking and staying alive long enough to stack up that passive, you know?

Then I started experimenting with items. I saw some people building him with Ionian Boots of Lucidity, Trinity Force, and Manamune. I tried that out, and honestly, it felt pretty good. The extra ability haste from the boots helps you spam those spells, and Trinity Force gives you a nice mix of damage and utility. Manamune seemed like a good choice, but it takes a while to get it.
But here’s where things get interesting. I noticed that Smolder pairs really well with certain ADCs. Like, I had this one game with a Nami, and it was insane. We just dominated the lane. She’d land her bubble, and I’d follow up with my abilities, and boom, they’re gone. Plus, Smolder can help Nami to clear the waves easily. It felt like we were playing a different game than everyone else.
After crushing it in normals, I decided to take Smolder support into ranked. I spammed him for like, 90% of my games today, trying every build imaginable, and yeah, the Trinity Force, boots, and Manamune build works pretty well.
- Early game is all about survival. You’re squishy, so you gotta play safe and focus on farming and poking.
- Stacking that passive is key. The more stacks you get, the stronger you become.
- Teamfights are where you shine. Your ultimate can turn the tide of a fight if you use it right.
- Don’t be afraid to experiment. There’s no one-size-fits-all build for Smolder support. Find what works for you and your team.
Here’s what I learned from all those games:
So yeah, that’s my Smolder support journey so far. It’s been a blast, and I’m definitely going to keep playing him. If you’re looking for a fun and unconventional support, give him a try. You might be surprised at how strong he can be.
Oh, and one last thing. If you have any tips or tricks for playing Smolder support, let me know in the comments. I’m always looking to improve.
