Okay, so here’s the deal, I’ve been trying to catch this Shellder in Pokémon Go for a while now, and I finally figured it out. I’m gonna walk you through it, just like how it happened for me.
First off, I spent hours just wandering around, hoping to bump into a Shellder. No luck. I checked every park, every area near water, like, literally, every little pond and lake in my area. Nothing. I even asked around, but folks were just as clueless as me. So I hit the internet, did a deep dive on the forums and all that, and it turns out you gotta be a bit strategic about it.
I found out that Shellder likes to hang out in “nests” and “habitats”. These are just spots where certain Pokémon, like Shellder, show up more often. Apparently, there’s a place called Kala’e Bay, and there’s this “Special Spot” right by where you’d be interested in. It’s not a guaranteed thing, but it’s a good start.
What I did was, I went to the nearest water area I could find which is similar to this bay, kinda like this bay that people are talking about, I fished around in the “special spot”, then I ran into a nearby cave, then came back out to reset the area. It sounds crazy, but it worked! It’s supposed to be a 20% chance of Shellder showing up if you do this. After a few tries, boom, there it was! I caught it! I have no idea about this bay thing, but this method does work.
Here’s what I learned from my little adventure:
- Shellder is a bit of a rare one, so you gotta be patient.
- They like water areas, so stick to those.
- Find a special spot in the water area and fish.
- Try the trick of running in and out of a nearby cave to reset the spawns.
- It might take a few tries, but don’t give up!
Now, some people were saying there are these “nests” where Shellder appears a lot, like, 20 or more at a time. I haven’t found one of those yet, but if you’re lucky enough to be near one, that’s your golden ticket.

I also found some info about Shellder’s stats and stuff, like its Max CP and the best moves. Honestly, I’m not that into the technical stuff, but if you are, you can probably find it online. It might help you decide if Shellder’s even worth all this trouble.
