Alright, so I’ve been messing around with this whole Leatherworking thing in WoW, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. When I first started, I was like, “Yeah, I’m gonna craft some sick gear!” I mean, who doesn’t want to look like a badass while they’re running around Azeroth, right?
So I picked up Leatherworking, and at first, it was pretty chill. You know, you kill some boars, skin them, and then craft some basic stuff. Easy peasy. But then, I hit level 50, and suddenly, I had to make a choice: what specialization should I go for?

I did some digging, asked around in-game, and it turns out there are a few paths you can take. There’s this thing called Dragonscale Leatherworking, which is apparently good for hunters. Then there’s Elemental Leatherworking, which I heard is good for making leather with Agility. Seemed kind of all over the place.
- Dragonscale Leatherworking: I guess this is the go-to for hunters, especially if you’re into that whole dragon-slaying aesthetic.
- Elemental Leatherworking: This one’s got something to do with Agility. Maybe good for rogues or something?
- Armor Specialization: This build allows crafters to create the best hide-and-scale-based armor, providing maximum protection with minimum weight.
And then, some folks told me, “If you just wanna make gold, don’t even bother with specializations.” But I was like, “Nah, I wanna make cool stuff for myself, even if it is just some basic armor!” So I decided to go for either leather or mail armor specialization, figuring I’d just make gear for my own characters. It’s way cooler to wear something you crafted yourself, you know?
First, I found the trainer that taught my current specialization and told him “I wish to unlearn…”. Then, I rode to Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris and found the book “Soothsaying for Dummies” inside a hut and clicked it. After that, I got the new specialization.
I also found out that you can actually unlock more specializations later on, like at level 60. I’m not quite there yet, but it’s something to look forward to. I guess I could have multiple “salts,” as some people call them. Who knew?
It’s kinda cool how this whole system works. You start with these basic options, and then you can develop into these super-specialized crafters, making all sorts of awesome gear and accessories. It’s like, you’re not just a leatherworker; you’re a master of your craft. I spent so much time gathering materials and trying out different patterns. It is really fulfilling!
Anyway, that’s my Leatherworking story so far. It’s been a fun ride, and I’m excited to see what other crazy stuff I can craft down the line. Maybe one day I’ll be making legendary gear that everyone wants. Who knows? This game never ceases to surprise me.
