Alright, guys, so let’s talk about something that’s been bugging a lot of us in the gaming community. I tried to play Counter-Strike 2, also known as CS2, on my Xbox Series X today, and guess what? It’s a no-go. Yep, you heard that right.
I did some digging and found out that Valve, the guys behind CS2, only released it for PC. I found this information and the date, it was released for PC on Steam on September 27, 2023. I launched the game after spending months in beta mode and it was first revealed on March 23. They haven’t made it available on any console yet, not even the latest ones like the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S. So, I spent the whole morning trying to figure out if there was a way around this. I watched some YouTube videos, read through some forums, and even tried some shady methods that people were suggesting online. Nothing worked. It’s just not possible at the moment.

Valve developed this game, making it an update to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. But they’ve kept it strictly for PC gamers. I mean, I get it, they want to focus on the PC gaming experience, but what about us console players? It is really sad.
I even found some information that the sequel was set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. But it looks like those plans never happened. Right now, we’re left in the dust.
So, here’s the deal. If you’re like me and you were hoping to enjoy CS2 on your Xbox Series X, you’re out of luck for now. We can only hope that Valve decides to bring it to consoles in the future. But honestly, I doubt that’ll be very soon. They are not even talking about it.
I’m pretty bummed about this, but what can you do? I just wanted to share my experience so you guys don’t waste your time like I did. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for some good news in the future.
Here’s a quick rundown of what I tried:
- Checked the Xbox Store: First thing I did was check the Xbox store to see if there was any mention of CS2. Nothing there.
- Searched Online: Then, I looked around for alternative ways to play CS2 on Xbox Series X. I saw some guides and methods, but none of them seemed legit or safe.
- Tried Some Sketchy Methods: I even attempted a few of those unverified methods, just to be sure. Of course, no luck.
- Contacted Support: Reached out to Xbox support to see if they had any information. They confirmed that the game is not available on consoles.
- Reached Out to Friends: I also asked around in some gaming groups to see if anyone had found a way. Everyone’s in the same boat.
It’s a real shame, but that’s the reality. No CS2 on Xbox Series X or any other console for that matter. We’ll just have to wait and see if Valve changes their mind about this.
Stay strong, console gamers! We might get our turn someday.
