Alright, so I’ve been wanting to get into Rocket League for a while now. It looks like a blast – cars, soccer, explosions, what’s not to love? But here’s the thing, I wanted it on Steam. Now, they yanked it off the Steam store a while back, which is a bummer. But I heard there’s still a way to play it on Steam if you already own it, or if you use this “Family Sharing” thing. So, I decided to give it a shot.
First, I checked if I already had Rocket League in my Steam library. No dice. Okay, plan B. I did some digging, and apparently, the key was to link different platform accounts to my Epic Games account. Because, you know, Epic Games is where Rocket League lives now.

So, I went over to the Epic Games website. Created an account, which was pretty straightforward. Then, I found the account management section. It’s kind of buried in the settings, but I eventually located it.
Linking Accounts
Now, here’s where it got a little interesting. I had to link my Steam account to my Epic Games account. In my brain, I thought the progress would be saved and could be used once I linked my account.
- Clicked on “Connections” in my Epic account settings.
- Saw the option to link Steam. Hit that button.
- Logged into Steam through the pop-up window. Boom, linked!
Honestly, that part was easier than I expected. Once the accounts were linked, I had access to all the items on both accounts. Sweet!
Playing Rocket League on Steam
With the accounts all linked up, I was ready to roll. Now, I didn’t actually buy Rocket League on Steam before, so I couldn’t just download it. But, here’s the trick I learned. Family Sharing.
My buddy had Rocket League on his Steam account from way back when. So, I asked him nicely to enable Family Sharing with me. He did, the legend.
After that, I could see Rocket League in my Steam library! I installed it like any other game. It took a bit to download, but hey, I was finally getting somewhere.
The Moment of Truth
Game downloaded. Launched it through Steam. And… it worked! I was in! I could see all the progress and items from my linked Epic account. It was like magic.
So, there you have it. Even though Rocket League isn’t sold on Steam anymore, you can still play it there if you’re a bit clever about it. It took some account linking and a little help from a friend, but I finally got my Steam account with Rocket League. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go smash some cars into a giant soccer ball.
